Georgia is now up to 20 commitments in the 2025 class with the addition of South Sumter (Bushnell, Fla.) safety Rashad Johnson. He chose the Bulldogs on Sunday over the likes of Louisville, Penn State, and Texas A&M.

At over 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Johnson is rated as a four-star prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He’s the nation’s No. 361 overall prospect and No. 32 safety per those rankings and the No. 50 player in Florida.

Georgia safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson paid Johnson a visit during the spring evaluation period to get an in-person look. After extending Johnson and offer while he was at Alabama, Robinson decided to do the same and his junior highlights offer some insight as to why.

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power has Johnson rated as a three-star prospect per the in-house rankings, but he sees a lot of potential in the hard-hitting safety. In addition to a strong frame and athleticism, Power sees a guy who understands the game.

“For starters, he is a guy who plays instinctively, and he triggers quickly to the ball. You see in his film that he has a lot of understanding of route concepts,” Power said of Johnson. “He’s quick to identify routes and breaks on the ball, and as a result, he gets his hands on a lot of passes. That’s readily evident.”

Georgia entered the summer with zero commitments in the defensive backfield but it has added four in a short period of time. It started with Valdosta (Valdosta, Ga.) athlete Todd Robinson in June. The Bulldogs then added four-star cornerback Shamari Earls (Thomas Dale; Chester, Va.) a week ago in July followed by Rockvale (Mufreesboro, Tenn.) safety Jaylan Morgan a day later. Johnson is Georgia’s third 2025 pledge in the past seven days.
