Iowa Women's Basketball hires Sean Sullivan as an assistant coach/GM

On Wednesday, the Iowa Women’s Basketball team announced the addition of North Carolina assistant coach Sean Sullivan to the coaching staff. He will be an assistant coach/general manager of the Iowa team. Sullivan has seven years of coaching experience in the Big Ten and ACC, while he spent four years as a women’s basketball team manager at the University of Iowa.

As an undergrad at the University of Iowa, Sean Sullivan spent four years as a women’s basketball team manager and then spent two seasons as the team’s Video Coordinator. He also spent a summer as the Video Coordinator for USA Basketball, where he was part of the women’s squad that won a silver medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games. The 2015 USA team was coached by Lisa Bluder and was led by Kelsey Plum and Breanna Stewart.

After graduating from Iowa, Sullivan spent two years on staff with Penn State Women’s Basketball, serving as Director of Scouting and Digital Technology. From there, Sean went to Pittsburgh for two seasons, where he was Director of Video for the Panthers.

Sullivan spent the last three seasons on staff with North Carolina. He served as Director of Player Personnel, Development and Recruiting Operations. This past season his title was updated to include his added role as an assistant coach. The Heels combined for a 67-31 overall record, including three NCAA Tournaments and a Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Per the UNC team page, in his role, Sullivan supported the Tar Heel student-athletes and team in all areas of skill development. He utilized film to ensure practice preparation and provides valuable support in recruiting operations and player development.
