What's LSU's D-Line outlook with Bo Davis? | What does Saban's retirement mean for LSU?

LSU starting offensive linemen Garrett Dellinger and Miles Frazier both passed on the opportunity to enter the 2024 NFL Draft, the pair tells The Bengal Tiger staff.

Dellinger and Frazier both started all 13 games for LSU this past season as the program’s two offensive guards.

With their decisions to return to the team for the 2024 season, Dellinger and Frazier give the Tigers four of five starters back on the offensive line. LSU left tackle Will Campbell and right tackle Emery Jones, who were sophomores this past season, return as the starting tackles.

The lone starter who will not return is senior Charles Turner, who started all 13 games at center for the Tigers during the 2023 season. There will be open competition at the center position, though DJ Chester – who appeared in four games and took a redshirt as a true freshman – is viewed as the frontrunner to win the job as he enters his second season of college football.

Dellinger logged 723 snaps this past season while Frazier logged 731 snaps, the second-most and third-most snaps of any player on offense, respectively. Campbell led the offense with 731 snaps, while Jones – who missed one game with an injury – logged 634 snaps. Turner played 689 snaps at the center position.

After three seasons in Baton Rouge, Dellinger has made 23 starts and appeared in 34 games. That includes starts made at the two guard positions, center and right tackle. Frazier, who transferred to LSU from Florida International ahead of the 2022 season, now has 27 straight starts under his belt for the Tigers. Like Dellinger, Frazier has brought some versatility to the offense line across the past two seasons, making starts at both guard positions as well as right tackle.

For LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis, it’s a veteran group that closed out the 2023 season as finalists for the Joe Moore Award, which is given annually to the best offensive line in college football.

With LSU returning both starting offensive tackles and both starting guards, freshman Lance Heard chose to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal and is expected to land at either Tennessee or Oklahoma.

Even with the loss of Heard, the recruiting done by Davis across the past few cycles has LSU stacked with not just starters, but talented depth that can be developed behind a starting five that only loses one player in Turner.
