WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

CaneSport continues its State of The U series with a closer position by position look, unfiltered and objective, based on what Miami has returning, the projections and whether this will be an improved unit or not. Today’s focus: the wide receivers, a group that has seen improvement in quality numbers and is simply looking for a breakout star this fall.

There’s also our continuing analysis of the top 50 roster players, giving insight onto this team’s talent level and depth. Check out our closer look at No. 9, Jacolby George. Can he find consistency this year and emerge as one of college football’s more productive receivers.

In recruiting? There was, of course, the latest commitment last night from Miami Central DB Amari Wallace, a defensive back with the mindset and experience of a safety and the cover skills of a cornerback. So don’t miss that news, including evaluation of his play from his high school coach.

Plus after a flurry of commits this week, we continue to preview another massive official visit weekend and have a big picture storylines to watch story.

There also are individual updates on each of the visitors heading into the weekend’s activities.

We catch up with Canes commit Osceola (Fla.) linebacker Elijah Melendez as he heads into his final official visit of what has been an extremely busy summer. Find out how solid his UM pledge is heading into it. This is a big one for Miami to hang onto.

Another upcoming OV update is with Mandarin (Fla.) four-star safety and priority Miami target Hylton Stubbs.

And we also catch up with Miami Central standout DL Randy Adirika as he is set to take his UM OV this weekend … with a decision timeline in mind. Will he join teammate Wallace at The U.

Also don’t miss our update on the performance of Miami QB commit Luke Nickel at the Elite 11 competition, who competed on an injured ankle but still represented himself very well.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

How much does game 1 vs. the Gators mean? … Posted by DreadLock

I have no idea the age of some of you posters, but I have been around this program a few years and when the Gators are on the schedule this game has special meaning.

UM has always wanted to destroy and knock the snot out of these Gators (Mario knows the meaning of this game) and same thing goes for them hating us and wanting to kick the crap out of us.
This game is huge for bragging rights and also huge for recruiting. So for the guys who say you don’t care or think this game really doesn’t mean much y’all are to young to remember the 80’s & 90’s.
