WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We have your newest Inside The Lines installment with the always outspoken Alex Mirabal. Don’t miss what he’s saying about how he’s working his linemen and his take on this year’s key OL position.

Also be sure to check out Matt Shodell’s column looking at why Miami might heavily rely on the run against Florida in the huge opening game.

In recruiting?

More news there, starting with Stephen Wagner breaking down 5 top 2025 recruits he thinks Miami has as shot of flipping.

We catch up with recent commit Bryce Fitzgerald’s coach for an inside look at just what Miami landed.

Another update? This past weekend, Tampa (Fla.) Armwood 2025 linebacker Kellen Wiley kicked off his senior season with a statement win and an excellent outing against Miami Norland at Traz Powell Stadium. After the standout performance, it didn’t take long before programs began calling, including the Miami Hurricanes, who offered Wiley Tuesday evening. See what Wiley is saying about that.

Plus we have an update with 2026 Prosper (Texas) four-star offensive lineman Bryce Gilmore, who’s seen his recruiting stock continue to rise and now has a Miami offer on his list.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Too many expectations for Florida game … Posted by R.D.Canes

As much as I would love to destroy the gators, it’s the first game for a team with some 40 or so new players in one of the most difficult places to play in the country. Losing this game would not signify a big failure by this coaching staff. Personally I think we either lose a close one or win a close one but if we lose and then, as the team starts to gel, we run the table or go 10-1 or even 9-2 the rest of the games, that is still a good season while maintaining upward trajectory. If, and I certainly hope not, but if we lose to Florida, we all should really try not to overreact. I mean, I don’t think Florida has lost a home opener in like an absurd amount of time.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“He thinks like a center. He has experience. He goes about his business different than Matt (Lee, last year’s starter) did, that’s okay. He’s quiet in his leadership, but he’s effective. … When you’re the center, you’re forced to be in a leadership position.”
