MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Gators QB Graham Mertz take … Posted by LetsGoCanes

Mertz is a solid vet who will have had an entire off season to prepare for our game in the same offense he ran last year. Gators coaching staff understands our strength is DLine & will have a game plan of short routes for their receivers as well as getting the ball out of Mertz’s hands quickly. Those are easy completions for Mertz & i see them being able to move the ball between the 20’s on our defense until they get to the red zone. Guidry’s D will have to hold them to FG’s for us to get the win. If we can get a lead & force Mertz into a 7 step drop then our DL can wreak havoc, but the first half of the game will be scripted for the Gator O with easy completions for Mertz with 3 step drop to prevent our DL from having enough time to get after him.

Everybody keeps questioning our inexperienced DB’s as we should, but i’m just as concerned about our LB’s covering the short/ intermediary routes we’re gonna see a lot of in the first half of the game. Do we think our D can force Mertz to make the mistakes?

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I think back to all the years that Miami was dominant, it’s always been the perimeter that made it that way. You just go back and call off the names. I see that. I see that taking place now, and the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing – get better every day, take care of every rep like it’s a championship rep.”
