CANESPORT PRESEASON FLASH SALE: For a limited time get 50 percent off the No. 1 Miami Hurricanes site

WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Game week is here and CaneSport is having its flash sale that ends Wednesday with 50 percent off. So don’t miss the opportunity to join the No. 1 Canes community as the season begins with as much promise as we can remember in the last couple of decades. It’s going to be an exciting ride and we have you covered every step of the way.

This afternoon we’ll be hearing from Mario Cristobal and both coordinators with the huge matchup at Florida just five days away. We will have you fully covered with that. There’s also CaneSport publisher Gary Ferman with your game week Q&A, answering all your questions heading into the game. And there were updates with players like LB Francisco Mauigoa and TE Elijah Arroyo you can check out as well with preparations for UF ongoing.

We also continue to have plenty of team analysis for you.

The CaneSport staff is ready to make their season predictions, so what records do we all project?

We also break down the under the radar players on Miami’s offense and defense. There’s a depth chart analysis as well, and we also look at potential NFL first rounders for Miami in 2025 … even if ESPN’s mock draft didn’t list any.

The men’s hoops non-conference schedule was released as well, so you can find out about those games.

In recruiting? We have your early list of top Miami targets that will be on hand at the game in Gainesville this weekend, so don’t miss that.

You can check out our Live From The Crib item from over the weekend with Miami Hurricanes commits Luke Nickel and Malachi Toney shining on the national stage as well. We also caught up with SJ Alofaituli as Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman was playing against St. Thomas Aquinas for the latest with his commitment status. Another update from that game is with Bishop Gorman 2026 EDGE Prince Williams – over the last two months the Canes have established themselves as a top team in his recruitment.

A bonus? We have an Inside The Lines feature with Nickel as well, and the Canes’ QB of the future shares his thoughts including his score prediction for the upcoming game vs. the Gators.

And Miami’s staff has made a clear and undoubted investment in local powerhouse Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage since head coach Mario Cristobal arrived in Dec. 2021. So it’s no surprise that even after landing 2026 four-star receiver Malachi Toney the Hurricanes want his teammate, 2026 top-100 receiver Brandon Bennett, in next year’s recruiting cycle. Find out the latest there.

Another update: Since backing off his commitment from Syracuse earlier this month, there has been no shortage of programs reaching out to Leesburg (Fla.) Tavares four-star linebacker Izayia Williams, including the Miami Hurricanes. He has UM beating UF and shares where things stand with the Canes in his recruitment.

The Canes offered 2026 EDGE Tristian Givens last week, and he shares his thoughts, and also don’t miss our update with Pensacola Catholic four-star 2026 EDGE Trenton Henderson, who has Miami on his mind and took a trip to Coral Gables late last month for the Hurricanes’ end-of-summer recruiting cookout.

Plus we catch up with the younger brother of Booker Pickett. The Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Technical four-star offensive lineman, Canon Pickett, is high on Miami and has an offer. Readall about that.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

The Florida game … Posted by Hooracane

While the game will not be easy, we have the better roster or so we have been told at nauseum by the resident pumpers. This staff needs to show results in year 3 and FL, while not a “gimme”, needs to be won. In the end, FL is a middle of the pack SEC team which are expected to win 6 or fewer games. Is their schedule brutal? Yes. Nevertheless, they are extremely beatable. If MC is as “great” of a HC as some here seem to tout then he needs to start winning games. Otherwise, it is the same ole same ole. Great recruiter…crappy HC. Under normal stable conditions, it is not the end of the season if you lose game 1. However, this is not a normal or stable program. It has not been for 20 years. MC needs to win this game, period.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Miami has six games that are likely to have anxious moments. While reality says that a 3–3 result from that stretch is probable, I am going to go out on the limb and say that the Hurricanes will go 4-2 in those games and finish 10-2. Will that be good enough to make the ACC title game and have a chance to qualify for the College Football Playoff? It should be if Miami doesn’t lose to both Florida State and Louisville.”
