Three weeks after the Early Signing Period, 2023 Miami signee Frankie Tinilau is ready to finally take his official visit to Coral Gables.

Tinilau, a 6-foot-5, 315-pound three-star offensive tackle from La Salle High School (Miami) was one of five 2023 high school offensive line recruits to sign with the Canes Dec. 21, and Friday he’ll take his official visit to Miami. He had previously taken three unofficial visits to Miami but had not taken an official visit to any program.

“I have been around the campus countless times, but taking this official visit will only strengthen my relationship with my coaches and the team,” Tinilau said. “It’s going to be a great weekend to relax and bond with the staff and players. My heart was always set on Miami, so now I can just experience life of a recruit.”

Tinilau expects this weekend to be a relaxing trip for him as he experiences the benefits of being a Power Five prospect without the stress of having to weigh other programs. He became one of Miami’s earliest 2023 commits when he chose the Canes April 11, 2022, choosing Miami over offers from Florida State, Oregon, Arizona State, Auburn and others.

His visit begins Friday and runs through the weekend. Tinilau plans on savoring every moment.

“Now that it’s all locked in, I can enjoy a visit with my mom after everything me and my family have gone through to be here,” Tinilau said.

Tinilau said he’s most looking forward to eating food and bonding with his future teammates. He’ll also be joined by fellow 2023 signees three-star linebackers Marcellius Pulliam and Kaleb Spencer, who will transition to safety at the college level.

Tinilau was the No. 73 offensive tackle in the 2023 class and a top 200 recruit in Florida.

CaneSport’s Take

This should be a weekend of celebration for Tinilau, for whom this marks the end of a journey that started in New Zealand. Tinilau shouldn’t have any pressures during his visit, and he should be able to sit back and enjoy life as a high school recruit one final time before he ultimately transitions to the college level.
