East Lansing, Mich. Michigan State starting left tackle Brandon Baldwin will enter the transfer portal, he announced via social media Wednesday night. Baldwin, a redshirt junior, is the 14th Michigan State player to either enter or announce their intention to enter the portal since Monday.

“Given the transition going on with the new coaching staff, I will be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaing, keeping open the possibility of returning” Baldwin wrote in a statement released to Twitter. “I look forward to this next chapter of my life, either here in East Lansing or elsewhere.”

A player who enters the transfer portal can withdraw if they wish to return to school.

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound Baldwin started 10 games for Michigan State this season. He played in nine games as a redshirt sophomore in 2022, earning five starts at left tackle.

Prior to Michigan State, Baldwin, a Detroit native, spent three seasons (2019-21) at Independence (Kan.) Community College. Baldwin did not see game action in 2019. His second season was canceled due to COVID-19.

Baldwin appeared in four games during his third season at Independence Community College, which was played in the spring. The former Southfield (Mich.) A&T standout earned the No. 7 JUCO offensive tackle rating, per the On3 Industry Rankings, by the end of his third and final season at Independence Community College.

Baldwin is the fifth Michigan State offensive lineman to enter the portal since Monday. He joins tackle Spencer Brown, guard Kevin Wigenton, guard Geno VanDeMark and tackle Ethan Boyd.
