Michigan State redshirt junior quarterback Noah Kim has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3. The Centreville, Va., native will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Kim—who earned the starting job during the offseason after the departure of Payton Thorne—started the first five games of the season. Redshirt freshman quarterback Katin Houser replaced Kim as the starter in week six and held onto the role through the season finale. Houser announced yesterday via social media that he intends to enter the transfer portal when it opens for non-graduate transfers on Dec. 4.

Kim threw for 1,090 yards and six touchdowns, completing 56.9 percent of his pass attempts this season. Kim was also intercepted six times in five games, including three in his final game against Iowa. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback compiled 1,264 passing yards and nine touchdowns during his Michigan State career.

The former three-star recruit arrived in East Lansing prior to the 2020 season. He originally signed for former Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio and his staff. Kim—who held additional offers from Virginia Tech, Western Michigan and more—was the No. 1053 recruit in the country and No. 67 quarterback prospect, per the 2020 On3 Industry Rankings.

Michigan State currently has zero scholarship quarterbacks on its roster following Kim’s decision to enter the portal. Houser—as previously noted—and freshman quarterback Sam Leavitt announced their intentions to enter the portal on Monday.

Walk-on quarterback Andrew Schorfhaar and converted wide receiver Zach Gillespie are the only two rostered quarterbacks currently.
