Michigan Wolverines football has now had eight players enter the transfer portal since the conclusion of the 2021 campaign, with sophomore safety Jordan Morant announcing his exit Friday.

Morant did not see game action during his freshman year at Michigan in 2020, before playing in four games in 2021. Morant mostly played special teams but got in at safety in one game, totaling eight defensive snaps. He made one tackle in the Wolverines’ 42-27 beatdown of Ohio State.

Morant made two tackles and one pass breakup in Michigan’s Maize vs. Blue spring game, and appeared to be climbing the depth chart a bit despite still being buried behind the likes of Rod MooreMakari PaigeR.J. Moten and potentially others, like four-star freshmen Keon Sabb (an early enrollee) and Zeke Berry.

He bid farewell to Michigan fans with a heartfelt tweet.

Michigan Wolverines head football coach Jim harbaugh attended the PXG Detroit Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, alongside NFL and Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders.

Quote Of The Day

“He is going to be — my personal opinion — a fabulous player [at Michigan]. Probably will also be a really good player right away in the fall. He is really gifted. Athletically, strength — it’s all there already. And he’s another midyear freshman. When he figures out how to play with the really high relentless [motor] — mid-play, you can still make a play … don’t have to just come clean to make a play and get involved in a tackle or a sack. Once he really learns how to play the game. Just learning the scheme and the counter moves … once he learns that, I think he is going to be a beast out there on the edge. I have really high hopes for him.”
