Notes from Michigan players

• McCarthy discussed his postseason discussion with former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who advised him to head to the NFL given his projected draft position.

“It was quite easy, honestly,” McCarthy said of the conversation. “He was somebody that was like, ‘Hey, I’m out here thinking of you if you were my son.’ And he told me ‘I want you to go because of your draft stock. It could get higher, but not that much higher. And it’s just an opportunity you don’t want to pass up.’ Just hearing that from him just gave me so much more confidence because that was kind of where my head was leaning towards. So just hearing that was amazing.”

McCarthy also said new Michigan coach Sherrone Moore will do a great job and is a “Michigan man.”

• Wilson said that he expects to run in the low 4.3s in the 40-yard dash, but that he thinks he can go in the 4.2s.

“Right now, I think I’m going to get a low 4.3, but I’m really trying to get a 4.2,” Wilson said. “Just being humble, I’d say low 4.3s.”

• Corum said that he’ll bring a winning mindset to a team, and that the proof is how he played as hard as possible every game at Michigan. He noted that he’s now going 10 times harder with his NFL career ahead of him.

Corum also said that he’s excited to see what Michigan does next season.

“I know they’re sticking together as brothers and they’re going to carry on that culture, that winning mindset of doing whatever it takes to win,” he noted. “That’s the culture that we built there, so I know they’re going to continue that and it’s going to be a great season.”
