Newsstand: Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz suspended for alleged tampering with former Michigan QB Cade McNamara

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz will serve a one-game suspension to start the season (Aug. 31 against Illinois State). According to reports, Ferentz is facing a potential Level II NCAA violation for tampering with a recruit, which happens to be former Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara.

McNamara entered the transfer portal Nov. 28, 2022, and committed to Iowa Dec. 1. Ferentz and an assistant coach apparently had contact with McNamara and / or his family before he officially entered the portal.

On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong predicts that Auburn will flip Michigan defensive line commit Nate Marshall.

Michigan junior cornerback Will Johnson signed an NIL deal with Beats by Dre and gifted headphones to each of his teammates.

Michigan hockey standout Rutger McGroarty has signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder was a second-team All-American last season, before being picked No. 14 overall in the first round of the NHL Draft.
