Wolverine TV: Can Michigan close with Top 100 TE Andrew Olesh?

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland discussed several Michigan recruiting topics on the Wednesday edition of The Wolverine Live recruiting show, including Top 100 Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh tight end Andrew Olesh.

Penn State was considered the leader for Olesh for the majority of the recruiting cycle. However, Michigan has picked up some serious steam in this recruitment.

The Wolverines now have an 86.1 percent chance of landing him, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Michigan really impressed Olesh and his family on the official visit over the weekend and made a power move.

Here is what Holland had to say about where things stand.

“He’s a difference maker as a pass catcher,” Holland “Michigan has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. I have a prediction in for Michigan, and I feel confident in that. Alabama is still trying to make a run here. I don’t think Penn State is much of a factor anymore after having the lead for the majority of the cycle. I don’t think Florida is much of a factor here, either. We’ll see if Bama is able to make a late run, but I give the edge to Michigan. I feel good about my pick. As far as a decision timeline, I think Olesh was originally planning for July 1 or 2. You could potentially see him make a decision next week.”

At 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, Olesh is ranked as the No. 5 tight end and No. 115 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the state of Pennsylvania this cycle.

Archbishop Shaw wide receiver Jacob Washington, four-star Palatine (Ill.) High EDGE Jaylen Williams, four-star Birmingham (Mich.) Groves offensive lineman Avery Gach, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, three-star New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw running back Jasper Parker, three-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn, three-star Stockbridge (Ga.) High linebacker Chase Taylor and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens.

The class entered the day ranked No. 14 nationally and No. 5 in the Big Ten, per the On3 Industry national team recruiting rankings. The Wolverines currently sit behind Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and USC.
