NC State women's basketball finishes regular season in AP Poll top 10
NC State women’s basketball used a 2-0 week to vault back into the Associated Press Poll top 10. The Wolfpack climbed two spots, jumping past Virginia Tech and Oregon State to solidify its standing in the top 25 going into the ACC Tournament.
After defeating Wake Forest and Syracuse, the program finished the regular season with 13 conference wins, tied the program record with 7 top-25 triumphs and recorded more regular season victories than any other team in the league.
Thanks to consecutive losses by Virginia Tech last week, the Pack is once again the highest ranked team in the conference. A total of 5 ACC programs cracked the top-25. No. 11 Virginia Tech, No. 14 Notre Dame, No. 20 Syracuse and No. 24 Louisville all checked in behind NC State. The Wolfpack finished the regular season with a 3-2 record against those schools.
Duke and North Carolina also received votes. In this week’s poll, the program sits 13 points ahead of the Hokies and 40 behind No. 9 UConn.
The Pack is now 25-5 this season with a 13-5 conference record. Syracuse traveled to Raleigh Feb. 29, and NC State pulled off a thrilling 75-71 overtime victory. Then, the Wolfpack hosted Wake Forest March 3 for a senior day clash that ended in a 75-57 win.
NC State kicks off its ACC Tournament run Friday at 5 p.m. in Greensboro. The Pack will either play Duke or the winner of the first round matchup between Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech.
