Nebraska volleyball libero Lexi Rodriguez was named AVCA Second Team All-American on Wednesday. Husker outside hitter Madi Kubik was selected as an honorable mention.

The Huskers had five eligible players up for All-American status as Rodriguez, Kubik, middle blockers Kaitlyn Hord, Bekka Allick and opposite hitter Whitney Lauenstein were on the AVCA North All-Region team.

Rodriguez is no stranger to earning awards. This season, she was selected on the Big Ten First Team. The 5-foot-5 libero led the Huskers with 4.26 digs per set and helped them become the best floor defense in the nation. Nebraska leads the country with a .128 opponent hitting percentage. Rodriguez had 464 digs in 2022 and had the second most service aces on the team with 25.

As a freshman in 2021, the Sterling, Illinois native was an AVCA First-Team All-American, AVCA Freshman of the Year and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

Rodriguez was named a team captain as a sophomore and with no seniors currently on Nebraska’s 2023 roster, she’ll likely be a captain next season.
