COLUMBUS – Four-star Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central EDGE Damien Shanklin is a top target for Ohio State in the 2025 class and he was back in Columbus on Tuesday with his high school team that took part in the Ohio State 7-on-7 team camp.

The trip gave Shanklin, the No. 85 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings, the opportunity to see Ohio State for the second time this month after taking his official visit from June 7-9.

“It was good. Just coming with my team, enjoying the time with them,” Shanklin told Lettermen Row. “And also just to come back and see the staff.”

Shanklin got to sit down with defensive line coach Larry Johnson prior to the camp starting.

“I talked to him for a little bit. I know he had to go to the airport but yeah, I talked to him. I had a conversation with him and it went well.”

Larry Johnson and assistant defensive line coach LaAllan Clark have both built close relationships with Shanklin.

“With them the relationship is going well. They text me every morning, at least a Bible verse so I know faith is very big with them. Not only faith but development as well.”

Shanklin enjoyed getting to spend time with the Ohio State coaching staff on his official visit and learning more about how they plan to develop him.

“It was good. Talking a lot about development and also just where he sees me at and stuff like that. So it went very well.”

Freshman defensive end Eddrick Houston was Shanklin’s player host on his official visit and the two talked a lot about Ohio State’s track record of developing defensive linemen.

“Just talking to him and him telling me everything. Ohio State is just doing their job at development and just making sure guys get to the next level.”

The 6-foot-5 and 235-pound Shanklin has also taken official visits to LSU, Tennessee and is set to be in Tuscaloosa this weekend for his Alabama official visit. LSU holds a sizable lead for Shanklin on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
