OU basketball with a clunker outing, downed by UCF
Sustaining momentum is just a difficult thing in the Big 12, and OU basketball continues to swing back and forth.
The Sooners were unable to duplicate their strong Tuesday outing. Instead, a very disappointing effort gives OU its third loss in four games, losing 74-63 at Central Florida on Saturday afternoon.
OU trailed 7-0 and never led in the game. It was 34-27 at halftime, and OU never mounted a strong second half charge. Just an off, and often times, ugly afternoon.
Game 22 Takeaways from the couch
*OU looked confused by the UCF defense. The Knights used different looks all afternoon, between man and zone. It kept the Sooners off balance, and they couldn’t hit much of anything. The Sooners shot 37 percent from the field and only made five 3-pointers.
*Turnovers were the story. In getting down 15-4, it was because of not taking care of the ball. Head coach Porter Moser stressed how strong of a defensive team UCF is. But OU just didn’t respond the way it had at Kansas State. Fifteen turnovers on the road won’t get it done.

*Jalon Moore continues to play at a high level with 10 points and 11 rebounds. But it was a no-show from the other four starters. They combined for just 19 points, including a goose egg from Sam Godwin.
*OK, signs of life for Le’Tre Darthard. You’re not going to find a lot of positives, but he was one of them. He’s going to continue to get wide open look after wide open look. He hit quite a few this time around, making four 3-pointers and scoring 14 points.

Trying to get right at home. OU hosts BYU on Tuesday night. The Cougars are one of the NET darlings this season. No matter what has happened, BYU has been ranked high. So, if nothing else, it will give OU a chance for another big-time victory.
