OU women’s basketball has landed one of the top transfers in college basketball in former Oregon State forward Raegan Beers. She announced the decision on social media Monday.

Beers was one of the top players in the country this past season, earning All Pac-12 honors and being an AP All-American third-team selection. She was Oregon State’s leading scorer, averaging 17.5 points on 66.4% shooting from the field, and 10.3 rebounds per game. She was considered one of the top players in the transfer portal, with OU beating out powerhouse UCONN for her services.

“This is where it started. Hours spent on a pavement and the cul-de-sac,” Beers said in her commitment video Monday. “Competing against my siblings, my mom, my dad. The game and the competition became a part of me. Playing for something greater became my purpose. I went from the cul-de-sac to Corvallis to Pac-12 Freshman and Sixth Person of the Year to All-American. But now? It’s time for the next chapter in my life and my career. I learned from an early age that I have to work for everything. I learned the importance of loving the process. And the process has led me here. A place that emphasizes loving the game, loving to compete and loving Oklahoma. I may just be a kid from the cul-de-sac in Colorado, but deep down, I’m a Sooner.”

The addition of Beers is a big one of the Sooners, which return nearly all of their production in 2024-25. Leading scorer Skylar Vann returns, as well as fellow starters Lexy Keys, Peyton Verhulst, Nevaeh Tot and Sahara Williams. Oklahoma will also have Liz Scott back in the fold, after she missed the 2023-24 season with an injury.

For head coach Jennie Baranczyk, next season could be a breakthrough year. Under her leadership, the Sooners have won back-to-back Big 12 regular season titles and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in all three seasons of her tenure. But with Beers now in Norman, the expectations are even higher in 2024-25 for the Sooners and entering the SEC.
