Penn State Recruiting Lasch Bash Preview (1)

The annual Lasch Bash BBQ is the final stop on the Penn State summer recruiting trail. It’s also one last chance to make an impression on key recruits in 2025 before the season begins for high school and college teams. We’re previewing the two-day event on today’s BWI Live Recruiting Show with leading industry insiders Ryan Snyder and Sean Fitz. Which players are coming to campus this week? Snyder has been cataloging all the names over the last few weeks. He and Fitz will discuss the most interesting names on today’s show. Also, which players are future Penn State freaks? Snyder put together his list of four players in the Class of 2025 who have the tools to be elite athletes in college.

We also start the show by discussing how often Penn State has gotten a commitment out of the Lasch Bash event.

Penn State future freaks list

Before we get into the names that our analyst are most interested in discussing for this weekend, we discuss the Class of 2025. Snyder highlighted four “future freaks” in the class that are still underrated in the recruiting landscape from Penn State’s committed players. He tells us why players like Lyrick Samuel and Braswell Thomas should be thought of differently than they are. He also points out how they could help change the dynamics of the recruiting rankings if they do get a bump from other recruiting services.

Lasch Bash Friday and Saturday preview

With the recruiting calendar changes coming next cycle, this is likely the last July Lasch Bash, at least for some time. So Penn State is going all-out with over 60 confirmed prospects attending. The program is also using it as a two-day event on Friday and Saturday to services future prospects and still celebrate their committed players in the Class of 2025.

Most of our focus on today’s show goes towards the Class of 2026 and 2027, as the group for this cycle is mostly wrapped up. However, Snyder points out an official visitor from June, Koby Howard. The Florida receiver is back this weekend and seems to want a spot in Penn State’s class. We discuss the likelihood of his commitment and why there’s been a push-pull dynamic with the program.
