Penn State Football Mailbag

We start today’s show by discussing the under-the-radar players that we’re looking forward to learning more about in non-conference games. Which players or positions will we see young rotational players in during blowouts and non-conference games? We discuss how Penn State left tackle J’ven Williams fits into that category and then the freshmen that will get four games too gain experience while maintaining their redshirt.

Fans also want to know more about how the Penn State running backs work in the passing game. How many targets can the position see during the regular season? Will Quinton Martin factor into that equation? We discuss how too much of a good thing with running back targets can also be a net negative on the passing game and what a good balance will be from the offense.

Recruiting discussion

Penn State recruiting comes up later in the BWI Mailbag when talking about the Class of 2025. We review the players with the best film on offense and defense and which players stand out historically from the past several years.

Finally, we discuss Carter’s role on the team and how moving him to defensive end will help the defense.
