Tennessee Athletic Director Danny White Speaks On The Big Orange Caravan

Tennessee Football has sold out its allotment of 70,500 season tickets at Neyland Stadium for a second straight season, the Vols announced on Wednesday. It was also announced that, not only are season tickets sold out, Tennessee’s “season ticket interest list” is now at nearly 15,000 fans.

“We have an enormous amount of fans,” Tennessee athletics director Danny White said Tuesday night during the Big Orange Caravan stop in Nashville.

“ … People around the country are trying to figure out how to make their stadiums smaller. We’re 102,000 strong and sold out for the season. We’re fortunate at Tennessee to have what I believe to be the best fanbase in sport.”

Tennessee led the SEC in total home attendance, average attendance last season

White launched the ‘Rise Glorious’ comprehensive strategic plan in July 2022 which included season ticket goals for the football program. Tennessee surpassed a goal of 56,000 season tickets sold in the fall of 2022 with 61,490 season tickets. The Vols had a goal of 61,500 last season, before ultimately selling out the entire allotment of 70,500.

The 2024 season marks the third time in 23 season that Tennessee has sold out football season tickets, doing so last May and in August 2016.

Tennessee led the SEC in total home attendance (713,405) and average home attendance (101,915) last season. The Vols were ranked third and fourth nationally in those categories, respectively.

The 2024 season begins on August 31 at home against Chattanooga with Tennessee riding a streak of 13 straight home sellouts, dating back to a 63-6 win over Akron on September 17, 2022.

The Vols sold out all seven home games last season and the final six home games of the 2022 season.

Vols play four straight SEC home games this season

After the season-opener against Chattanooga, Tennessee goes to Charlotte for a neutral-site game against North Carolina State on September 7 at Bank of America Stadium in the Duke’s Mayo Classic.

The Vols return home to face Kent State on September 14 and will play four straight SEC home games later in the season, against Florida (October 12), Alabama (October 19), Kentucky (November 2) and Mississippi State (November 9), with a open date on October 26 splitting the four-game run.

Tennessee’s home finale is against UTEP on November 23.

“I like this football team,” Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said at the Big Orange Caravan on Tuesday. “I like what our young guys did throughout the course of spring that we’re there. We’re not where we need to be (right now) by the time we get to the fall, but the leadership, our veterans where they’re at. So I really like this football team, how we got to continue to grow every day.”
