Four-star Texas A&M WR target Adam Hopkins decommits from Auburn
2023 Thomasville (Ga.) Thomas County Central four-star wide receiver Adam Hopkins has decommitted from Auburn.
The four-star committed to the Tigers in September over Texas A&M and Florida State, but given the changes at Auburn, has opted to open things back up.
“”First, I want to thank God for blessing me with so many awesome opportunities,” Hopkins said. “Secondly, I would specifically like to thank Coach Ike for his kind gestures toward me during my commitment. I would also like to thank the Auburn University Coaching Staff for offering me the opportunity to play football at the next level within their program. After much thought and brief discussion with my family, I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment. However; Auburn University is still one of my top picks. I ask that each of you continue to pray for me and respect my decisions moving forward.”
Texas A&M hosted Hopkins on campus over the summer for an official visit and prior to that visit, sources indicated the four-star was close to shutting things down in favor of the Aggies. However, after visiting, Hopkins opted to make more visits and eventually, committed to Auburn shortly after making an official visit to the program.

Texas A&M doesn’t hold a wide receiver commit in the 2023 class to date, and could look to circle back on Hopkins now that he’s back on the market. The staff has expanded the wide reciever board as of a late, but Hopkins is an intriguing playmaker with versatility who recorded 33 catches for 490 yards and six touchdowns as a senior for a team that lost just once
Adam Hopkins Scouting Summary
“Juiced up two-way athlete who can score six at wide receiver and as a corner. Stands in at just over 5-foot-11, 175 pounds with a 6-foot-4 wingspan. Solid top-end speed, can really see it on vertical routes as a receiver and in recovery as a corner. Ran an electronically-timed 4.60 40-yard dash and a 4.35 shuttle during the spring camp circuit prior to his junior season. Excellent ball skills and ability to go and high point the football. Caught 28 passes for 357 yards and 2 touchdowns on offense during his junior season and notched 2 interceptions and 12 passes defended on defense. Physical player in the run game and with the ball in his hands. Projects to either side of the ball at the next level, but natural ball skills could see his home early on at wide receiver.”
Hopkins is the No. 226 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 28 wide receiver and the No. 21 senior recruit in the Peach State. The four-star has an On3 NIL Valuation of $26K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
