BREAKING: Five-Star DL Lebbeus Overton Commits to Texas A&M
No April Fool’s joke here. Texas A&M has added one more five-star to the 2022 class as Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Lebbeus Overton announced his commitment to the Aggies on Friday.
Overton selected the Aggies over Georgia and Oregon, as the primary two contenders in his recruitment, with Oklahoma and Ohio State rounding out his top five.
Overton, who reclassified from the 2023 class to the 2022 class earlier this year, was considered the top overall recruit in the 2023 class prior to reclassifying. The 6-foot-3, 269lb defensive lineman now ranks as the No. 10 prospect and No. 3 defensive lineman nationally in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The writing had been on the wall even prior to reclassifying that Texas A&M was the favorite for Overton. He made his official visit to College Station last weekend, which appeared to seal the deal for him, as he opted against taking his final two official visits to Oklahoma and Ohio State, rather choosing to commit and sign to the Aggies on Friday.
Overton’s commitment gives the Aggies nine five-star prospects and eight defensive linemen in the cycle. Overton’s older brother, Micaiah, a Liberty transfer, left Liberty with plans to team up with his brother at his next destination. Though he hasn’t announced his commitment just yet, the Aggies have offered the older Overton as a preferred walk-on and will likely add him to the class in the coming days.

For the younger Overton, College Station is home. The Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman was originally born in College Station, as his father Milton Overton, was the associate Athletic Director at Texas A&M from 1999 to 2009. The younger Overton has grown up following the Aggies his entire life and has been quite familiar with the program even prior to emerging as an elite recruit.
Overton’s commitment further solidifies Texas A&M’s No. 1 class in the 2022 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking as the top class ever by the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking with 30 total commits.
Overton is the No. 8 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also one of eight Five-Star Plus+ prospects in the class.
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $35k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
