2023 Buford (Ga.) offensive lineman Paul Mubenga is down to five schools and Texas A&M remains in the mix for the junior, along with LSU, Michigan, North Carolina and South Carolina.

In addition, the junior has scheduled an official visit to Texas A&M on June 17. He made a visit to North Carolina last weekend, will visit Michigan June 10th, LSU June 24 and is setting up an official visit to South Carolina as well.

“I felt like I had to see which schools were going to stick up until the end,” Mubenga told On3. “It so happens that it’s those schools. And personally, I had to make sure those schools were places I felt comfortable at and wanted.”

The Aggies offered Mubenga, a versatile offensive line prospect standing 6-foot-4, 275 pounds, in late February and the three-star made it down for his first visit to College Station back in late March.

For the junior, the relationships and recent recruiting success of the Aggies stand out to him.

“Definitely the relationships I’ve built with them and the culture once again,” he said. “Program on the rise with the best class recruiting in the class of 2022. Coach Fisher up there, doing a great job, I was able to see them when I went up there on a visit.”

In addition to his relationship with Fisher, Mubenga has a strong relationship with offensive line coach Steve Addazio as well, who has made the Georgia native a priority since offering just a few months ago.

“Coach Addazio really just invests into me a lot,” he said. “So that’s one thing they really have. And plus, they also have great academics. So that’s one thing that I really like about them.”

He added that beyond the communication with the staff, the culture Jimbo Fisher has cultivated has Texas A&M firmly in the mix for him.

“The place is incredible,” he told On3. “The constant communication, the welcoming feel every time I call. There is amazing structure and culture being built over there.”

As things stand, LSU currently leads for Mubenga per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 20.3% chance to land the Georgia native. Michigan and Texas A&M are close behind, with a 17.8% and 15.2% chance at Mubenga, respectively, per the RPM.

Mubenga ranks as the No. 525 prospect and No. 45 interior offensive line prospect in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. The three-star holds an On3 NIL Valuation on $8.3K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
