Texas A&M RB Rueben Owens once again a consensus five-star prospect
2023 Texas A&M signee, El Campo (Tex.) running back Rueben Owens is once again a five-star prospect in the On3 Consensus Rankings.

However, after updates to the On300 rankings today, Owens is now back into the five-star realm.

A 5-foot-11, 200-pound tailback, Owens is the second highest-ranked prospect in Texas A&M’s 2023 recruiting class. The group is led by Katy (Texas) Paetow Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman David Hicks, the No. 7 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

But, his rankings bump might be a result of his All-American Bowl week performance and the skillset he displayed in front of many.
On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant Cody Bellaire wrote about Owens’ success in San Antonio.
“Texas A&M running back signee Rueben Owens flashed eye-popping fluidity and burst in the open field throughout the week. He was extremely impressive working with the ball in his hands and as a receiver in the passing game. His ability to catch the football and make people miss in a phone booth was on full display each and every practice.”
On3 Scouting Summary
The most productive rusher in the 2023 cycle. Dominates mid-level competition, rushing for nearly 3,000 yards and 46 touchdowns as a junior. Extremely efficient, rushing for over 12 yards per carry. Pairs very good long-speed with vision and contact balance. Has run sub-11.0 second marks in the 100 meters and carries that speed over to the field. Regularly pulls away from the competition. Bounces off tackles at the second level. Spins out of arm tackles. Does not give up on runs.
Has also shown advanced ball skills as a pass catcher in the 7-on-7 setting. Does not appear to have a big frame at 5-foot-11 and under 200 pounds. Will need to add mass to his lower body to optimize leg drive and durability. Can improve his lateral agility as he gears down to cut at times. Older for the class, turning 19 years old in the middle of his senior season.
