Texas A&M senior linebacker Andre White Jr. to enter the transfer portal
Texas A&M took another hit to transfer portal today as senior linebacker Andre White Jr. announced he would finish his career elsewhere.
White played in 40 games in his four seasons in College Station, solidifying himself as one of the Aggies’ most consistent defensive playmakers. In his 40 games, White totaled 139 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, seven pass deflections, one interception, and one forced fumble.
White had his best single game performance in 2022 against the Florida Gators when he tallied seven tackles. He finished the season top-10 in tackles on the Texas A&M defense.
White will be a graduate transfer and is expected to have numerous opportunities to step in to a power five program to finish his final year of his collegiate playing career.
White, a former four-star prospect, was the No. 300 overall prospect and No. 36 linebacker in the class of 2019. The Harrisburg, PA native, chose the Aggies over Penn State, Michigan State, USC, UCLA, and others.
Texas A&M will have to hit the portal to make up for his loss
White is the 17th Aggie to hit the portal this offseason.
Texas A&M was already expected to hit portal hard for not only linebacker depth, but possible starting candidates. Along with White, freshman Ish Harris is transferring, and there are a handful that are deciding on their futures in regards to the NFL.

Transfer portal background information
The NCAA transfer portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.
Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.
The database is a normal database, sortable by a variety of topics, including (of course) sport and name. A player’s individual entry includes basic details such as contact info, whether the player was on scholarship and whether the player is transferring as a graduate student.
A player can ask that a “do not contact” tag be placed on the report. In those instances, the players don’t want to be contacted by schools unless they’ve initiated the communication.
