Top-100 CB Malik Muhammad sets Texas A&M official visit

Top-100 Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff defensive back and Texas commit Malik Muhammad has set an official visit date with Texas A&M, Muhammad announced via Twitter.

Muhammad will make his trip to College Station on October 29, his third time visiting the Aggies in the last calendar year. He previous visits came this past June, April, and June of 2021. His official visit will mark the fourth visit to College Station, the most of any school in his recruitment to this time.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has been committed to Texas since July, choosing the Longhorns over Texas A&M, Alabama, Miami, and a number of other programs. 

It was also announced today that Muhammad will officially visit Alabama on October 22, the weekend before he makes his way to College Station.

Muhammad is one of the elite defenders in Texas

Muhammad is the No. 45 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 4 cornerback and the No. 8 senior recruit in the state of Texas.

On3 rates Muhammad higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2023 On300, he is the No. 37 overall prospect, No. 2 cornerback and No. 4 player in Texas. 

Muhammad has an On3 NIL Valuation of $218K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

On3 Scouting Summary

Long-armed corner who excels in press-man coverage with the ball skills to create turnovers. Shows off his ball skills with the ability to high point the football while playing receiver. Has a 6’3”+ wingspan despite being around 6-feet in height. Ran an electronically-timed 4.61 40-yard dash in 2021, showing good speed relative to other corner prospects. This speed and burst translates to the track as well as he participates in the 400m/800m/1600m relays as well as the high jump, long jump and triple jump. One of the most natural corners in the country that will need to add more mass to his frame in order to hold up with the physicality of the game at the next level. Helped his high scool team to a historic state title as a junior.
