With a summer commitment in mind, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star safety Hylton Stubbs is ready to begin the next steps in his recruitment.

The nation’s No. 50 overall recruit and No. 6 player in the Sunshine State will take over a dozen college visits between now and the end of June. That includes four official visits he has now locked in, he tells On3’s Chad Simmons.

USC (May 30), Florida (June 7), Florida State (June 14) and Miami (June 21) are all on the docket for Official Visits.

Prior to that, he’ll make stops at Florida, USC, Texas A&M, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson and Florida State in March. And he’ll be back on the road again in April with trips to Miami, Florida and Florida State.

USC and Stubbs

By the time Stubbs takes his May 30 USC official visit, that will likely be his third on campus visit. He was at USC on February 3 with his Miami Raw 7v7 teammates. WeAreSC spoke to Stubbs after the visit and he said at that time he definitely planned to return.

That return trip will come next month, followed by the May 30 USC official visit. He hadn’t had much communication with USC DB coach Doug Belk two weeks ago, but the two have spoken multiple times since. The fact Stubbs plans to visit USC one more time prior to his official visit, is very significant.

Three schools are working hard to keep Stubbs in-state

Each of the three in-state schools — Miami, FSU and Florida — have made Stubbs one of their top 2025 priorities. The Gators have had him on campus nearly two dozen times as a recruit, and between the unofficial and official visits, he’ll be there at least three more times before he commits.

Head coach Billy Napier, defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong and secondary coach Will Harris are leading the way in his recruitment.

“The more I talk to them, the better relationships I’ve built and I’ve had better conversations with them,” Stubbs previously told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I’ll talk with coach Napier a lot … Florida probably talks with me the most.”

FSU head coach Mike Norvell, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain are his primary contacts in Tallahassee, and he loves the relationships he is building with them.

“When I’m there, I get to see a lot of the behind-the-scenes things, a lot of the ins-and-outs of how the coaches coach,” Stubbs said. “I feel like they’re really real. That’s why I like Florida State. The coaches are always going to be real.”

The Seminoles’ ACC rival – Miami – last hosted Stubbs for a game in the fall ahead of his unofficial visit to Coral Gables. He’ll be back again in the spring and summer to get a longer look at Mario Cristobal’s program.

“Their culture stands out,” Stubbs said. “The culture of Miami, you can’t pass it up. You always have to see what’s going on in Miami, to be honest. I love that culture and then, they’re recruiting me pretty hard. Coach Cristobal was at the school and I had a great conversation with him.”
