For these purposes, a short-yardage play is second, third or fourth down with four yards or fewer to go for a first down or touchdown. And just for fun, I threw in first-and-goal situations from the five-yard line or closer. Because, even with extra plays to work with, just how prolific and efficient has USC's offense been when they only need a handful of yards? As it turns out, it's pretty incredible.
