WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at what George Kliavkoff had to say about USC’s move to the Big Ten, the coaching staff hosting their underclassmen BBQ over the weekend, and Juju Smith-Schuster impressing at Chiefs Training Camp.

Kliavkoff on Big Ten Move

On Friday, Pac 12 commissioner George Kliavkoff spoke publicly for the first time since USC and UCLA announced that they would be leaving the conference for the Big Ten.

Obviously, Kliavkoff expressed his obvious disappointment with the decision. However, he attempted to take the high road, and did not speak with anger towards the Los Angeles schools.

“As a conference, we are of course very disappointed by the decisions by USC and UCLA to leave the Pac 12 and a century of tradition and rivalries after 2024,” Kliavkoff said. “That said, USC and UCLA have been proud members of the Pac 12 for almost a century. Despite their decision, we cherish our relationship with their student-athletes, coaches, staff, faculty, alumni and fans.”

“For that reason I personally have instructed everyone at our conference to make sure that USC and UCLA student-athletes are given every opportunity to compete and succeed for as long as they remain in the Pac 12.”

It will be interesting to see how the dynamic of USC and UCLA’s impending move plays out over the next two seasons.

Underclassmen BBQ

Over the weekend, USC hosted an underclassmen BBQ, and numerous priority recruits were in attendance

Juju Impressing

We’ve reached August, which means that NFL Training Camps are now well underway. While many USC alums are returning to the same NFL teams that they played on last season, others are trying to break in with new squads.

One Trojan who seems to be impressing in his new home is wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster. Smith-Schuster recently signed with the Chiefs, and will be catching passes from former MVP Patrick Mahomes this season.

In Kansas City, Smith-Schuster hopes to rekindle the magic of his first two NFL seasons, when he was a Pro Bowler and one of the games brightest young stars. However, his production fell off over his final three years in Pittsburgh, largely due to injuries and diminishing QB play.
