Alabama cornerback Dezz Ricks commits to transfer to Texas A&M
Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Dezz Ricks has committed to transfer to the Texas A&M Aggies.
Both Alabama and Texas A&M are going to have new head coaches for the 2024 season. Legendary Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban decided to retire with Alabama quickly replacing him with Kalen DeBoer. The Aggies, meanwhile, moved on from Jimbo Fisher and hired Mike Elko in his place.
The 2023 season was the only one that Ricks spent with Alabama. He acted as a reserve and learned behind a veteran secondary. He did get some playing time against Kentucky and Chattanooga, though only late in each of those games. However, he did not record a defensive stat.
A Virginia native, Dezz Ricks played high school football at IMG Academy (FL), where he was a five-star prospect. He was the No. 18 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Prior to making his decision, Ricks took a visit to Texas A&M and LSU.
