Alabama defensive back Jake Pope commits to transfer to Georgia
Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Jake Pope has committed to transfer to the Georgia Bulldogs, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Jake Pope has spent the first two seasons of his college career with the Crimson Tide. He took a redshirt during the 2022 season, not seeing any game action. Then, in 2023, he got his first game action with Alabama, mostly playing on special teams. That season, the Crimson Tide won the SEC and made it to the College Football Playoff.
Ultimately, Pope played in 11 games for the Crimson Tide but did not record a tackle in those appearances.
Jake Pope played high school football at Buford (GA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 315 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Georgia is landing a player with three years of eligibility remaining who came into college as a highly-touted recruit. Now, Kirby Smart and the Georgia staff will look to unlock that recruitment.
