Arizona State forward Jayden Quaintance plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. He also underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL, per the report.

Quaintance, because he’s only 17, is not eligible for the 2025 NBA Draft. According to Givony, he’s a projected top-five pick for the 2026 NBA Draft. For now, he’ll explore his options after expecting to make a full recovery. Quaintance is expected to be cleared for contact by September.

As a member of the Class of 2024, Quaintance was a five-star recruit out of Cleveland (Ohio) Word of God Christian Academy (N.C.), according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 1 overall prospect in the state, the No. 1 center in the class and the No. 7 overall prospect in the class.

“He’s already ahead of schedule, the doctor says, and should be cleared for contact in September,” Haminn Quaintance said, via ESPN. “We’re looking to put the right people around him.”

Quaintance averaged 9.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks in 29 minutes per game, despite being so young. He was actually 16 years old last summer after graduating high school a year early when he arrived on the ASU campus.

“I’m planning on coming back better than last year,” Jayden said to ESPN. “I’m already attacking my rehab aggressively.”
