Arizona State lands commitment from LSU cornerback Laterrance Welch

On Sunday afternoon, former LSU Tigers cornerback Laterrance Welch made a decision on his new home after entering the Transfer Portal.

Welch posted the commitment news to his Instagram with a graphic of himself in a Sun Devil uniform while the caption read “#forksup — an ASU reference. You can view that post right here.

In two years with the Tigers, Welch appeared in 22 games but wasn’t a consistent down-to-down player in Matt House’s defense. For his career, he’s recorded 13 tackles and one pass deflection.

Welch played high school football at Acadiana in Louisiana, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 168 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
