Arkansas transfer offensive tackle Andrew Chamblee is expected to commit to SMU, after a prediction was made by On3’s Pete Nakos and Billy Embody on Saturday evening. Chamblee is one of the most coveted offensive lineman prospects in the transfer portal. The gifted offensive tackle started eight games this year, earning All-SEC Freshman Team honors.

SMU lost four players to the transfer portal during the winter window, including first team All-AAC offensive tackle Marcus Bryant. Adding the 6-foot-6, 318-pounder fills a big position of need for the Mustangs.

If he commits to the Mustangs, Chamblee would be a critical piece in blocking this fall for SMU signal-caller, Preston Stone. Last year, he posted impressive numbers for the passing attack, completing 59.9% of his passes for 3,197 yards while tossing in 28 touchdowns, with just six interceptions.

The Texas native also had 198 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He’ll be the man to carry the Mustangs into their debut season in the ACC this fall.

Chamblee would join several other offensive line commitments in the Mustangs’ 2024 portal class: Oklahoma transfer offensive tackle Nate Anderson, ECU transfer offensive lineman Qae’shon Sapp, and Oklahoma transfer offensive lineman Savion Byrd. On Saturday evening, SMU also added another transfer offensive lineman from the Hogs, Paris Patterson.

SMU made an in-home visit with Chamblee in April, the first day the NCAA Transfer Portal window opened. Chamblee spent the past two seasons with the Razorbacks. He redshirted in his first year before his redshirt freshman season this past year. In 2023, he appeared in every game for the ‘Hogs, including eight starts.

He played 405 snaps for the Razorbacks, the sixth most on the Arkansas offensive line. He was rated at a 40.9 pass-blocking grade and a 55.9 run-blocking grade, according to Pro Football Focus.

Last month, it was shared that Chamblee was no longer part of Arkansas’ program. The original report suggested that he had “lost the love for the game” but would not be transferring as he planned to continue his life as a student in Fayetteville.

Now, a few weeks later, that no longer appears to be the case for Chamblee. It looks like he will be continuing his college football career in Dallas.

Chamblee played high school football at Maumelle in Arkansas. He was a four-star prospect there as the No. 336 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He rated as the No. 16 OT in the class and the No. 2 player in the state behind only WR Isaiah Sategna.
