Auburn transfer KD Johnson commits to George Mason
Auburn transfer KD Johnson has found his new home. Johnson has committed to George Mason, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.
The former top-100 recruit averaged 7.1 points per game this past season for the Tigers.
KD Johnson entered the transfer portal last month after the Tigers were upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by Yale.
Before beginning his college career, KD Johnson attended Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. He was the 17th-ranked point guard and the 83rd-ranked player overall in that cycle, according to the On3 Industry rankings.
Johnson started his career at Georgia, where he played in 16 games for the Bulldogs during his freshman season. That was the 2020-21 campaign. Johnson received 22.5 minutes of playing time per game while averaging 13.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game for the Bulldogs. That season, he was honored by being placed on the All-SEC Freshmen Team.
He was coached by Tom Crean at Georgia, before being coached by Bruce Pearl at Auburn.
Following that freshman season, Johnson transferred to Auburn where he played the next three seasons. In total, he played 102 games for the Tigers, starting 32 of them during that time. He averaged 22.4 minutes per game while at Auburn and averaged 9.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

Going into the 2022-23 season, K.D. Johnson was on the Preseason All-SEC Second Team.
This season, the Auburn Tigers went 27-8 and 13-5 in SEC play, winning the SEC Tournament after being tied for second in the conference during the regular season. However, Auburn was knocked out of the NCAA Tournament in the Round of 64 by Yale. Johnson had seven points in 26 minutes during that loss.

Auburn center Johni Broome announces return to Tigers for one more season
While Auburn has had some roster turnover this offseason, the Tigers are getting a key piece back.
Auburn center Johni Broome is set to return to the Tigers for another season. He announced the news Wednesday via social media.
Broome posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) holding the SEC Tournament trophy from this past season. He then saw Aubie the Tiger walk in with another trophy and said he had to “catch up,” and that’s when the text showed up to announce his decision.
“Johni Broome will return.”
By getting Broome back for one more year, Auburn will keep its leading scorer. This past season, he averaged a team-high 16.5 points while also grabbing 8.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks. He participated in the NBA Combine a year ago and considered staying in the draft, but ultimately chose to return to The Plains for another go-round.
