New Mexico State transfer QB Blaze Berlowitz commits to Vanderbilt
New Mexico State quarterback Blaze Berlowitz has committed to Vanderbilt out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced via X on Wednesday. After seeing a few players at the position leave Nashville, head coach Clark Lea has responded well.
Berlowitz just finished up his first season of college football, potentially taking a redshirt year. He played in just one game with New Mexico State, getting an extended look against Liberty. Completing 10 of 19 passes, Berlowitz finished with 134 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
Vanderbilt will be receiving a quarterback with at least three years of elegibility remaining. He is the second QB the Commodores have taken in the portal cycle, with Nate Johnson also making his way to the SEC program.
Berlowitz played high school football at Cushing (OK) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,931 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
