Wisconsin hoping to add second quarterback through portal, Brennan Armstrong remains top target
Wisconsin landed former Oklahoma quarterback Nick Evers on Saturday morning.
The Badgers do not have any plans to slow down their Transfer Portal recruiting efforts at the quarterback position, though. Former Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong wrapped up his official visit in Madison on Friday.
As one source close to the program indicated to On3, the Badgers would bring Armstrong in for a year. Meanwhile, Evers could develop and learn Phil Longo‘s system. The former North Carolina offensive coordinator just spent this fall tutoring Drake Maye.
Within days of Luke Fickell landing at Wisconsin, Graham Mertz announced his intentions to enter the portal.
Wisconsin is not the only suitor for the three-year starter out of Charlottesville. As On3’s Matt Zenitz reported earlier this week, Armstrong is also visiting Oklahoma State. Mike Gundy lost his starting quarterback, Spencer Sanders, to the portal earlier this month.

Brennan Armstrong ranked second nationally a year ago with an average of 404.5 passing yards per game. He also finished with 31 passing touchdowns, nine rushing scores and only 10 interceptions while leading the Cavs to ranking third nationally in total offense.
Under first year coach Tony Elliott, Armstrong struggled this fall, passing for 2,210 yards and seven touchdown along with 12 interceptions.
Landing Armstrong would be another major portal victory for the Badgers. There’s no doubt the talent Evers brings to Madison. The former four-star prospect ranked in the top 130 of his 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Fickell is known for his defensive prowess, however, the Bearcats never struggled to develop quarterbacks in his six seasons at Cincinnati. Desmond Ridder was taken in the third round of the NFL Draft this past spring.
