Texas A&M flips commitment of Cal Poly transfer from TCU
Texas A&M has added a big piece out of the transfer portal as former Cal Poly defensive back Donovan Saunders has committed to the Aggies.
Saunders was previously committed to TCU but announced on Friday that he was flipping his commitment to Texas A&M.
Saunders finished the 2023 season with 17 tackles, three interceptions and 11 pass breakups. He was named second-team All-Big Sky.
The San Diego, California native just completed his sophomore season and has three years to play two.
Donovan Saunders attended Cathedral Catholic High School, helping his team to a 12-2 record his senior year. A speedster, Saunders also ran track, record a 100-meter time of 10.81.
He immediately contributed for Cal Poly in 2022 as a freshman, appearing in seven games and making starts vs. Montana and Montana State. Saunders recorded a pair of interceptions and four pass breakups during his freshman season.
This past season he moved into a starting role, finishing with three interceptions, which was third out of everyone in the Big Sky conference.
