Colorado transfer center Eddie Lampkin commits to Syracuse
Eddie Lampkin spent just one season out West with Colorado, helping the Buffaloes make the NCAA Tournament and even win two games. However, once the run was over, he decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. But Lampkin is no longer on the open market, making his commitment on Tuesday night.
Syracuse and head coach Adrian Autry have won out for Lampkin. A huge acquisition heading into his second year in charge of the program, grabbing an experienced big man who has plenty of postseason experience.
Lampkin played in 37 games last season with Colorado, averaging 10.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He was in double-figures for all three NCAA Tournament games this season, spanning from the First Four vs. Boise State to the second-round loss against Marquette.
“I have nothing but positive experiences in Boulder,” Lampkin said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to showcase my skills, improve my fitness, and become a better basketball player and person. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I cannot return to Boulder. After talking to my family it was the best decision to transfer.”
The first three seasons of Lampkin’s career were spent at TCU, just a few hours away from his hometown of Katy, TX in the Houston area. TCU saw the center average 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 67 appearances.

Syracuse will be hoping the numbers from Lampkin continue to trend in a positive direction for the 2024-2025 season. Autry was going to need to make a few moves to compete in the ACC and landing a premier center in the portal is a good step.
Syracuse coming off 20 win season under Adrian Autry
For the first time since 1976, somebody other than Jim Boeheim was in charge at Syracuse. The legendary head coach officially retired and passed the job down to Autry, tasked with maintaining the program’s high expectations.
This past season resulted in 20 wins while finishing above .500 in ACC play. However, the Orange did not make the NCAA Tournament for the third season in a row — its longest drought since the early 1970s.
Landing guys such as Lampkin, who visited on Tuesday, is a great way to start the roster building for the upcoming season.
