Colorado wide receiver Willie Gaines enters NCAA transfer portal
Colorado wide receiver Willie Gaines has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.
Gaines followed Deion Sanders from Jackson State to Colorado but played sparingly in his lone year with the Buffaloes. He recorded just two catches for 12 yards.
That was a stark dropoff from his production at Jackson State in 2022, where Gaines recorded 27 catches for 446 yards and five touchdowns.
Now Gaines will once again seek a new opportunity.
Prior to enrolling at Jackson State, Gaines was a three-star prospect and the No. 1,753 overall recruit in the 2019 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
He also checked in as the No. 50 athlete in the class and the No. 246 overall player from the state of Florida, hailing from Cocoa (FL) Cocoa.
