Wisconsin EDGE Darian Varner expected to enter transfer portal

Wisconsin EDGE Darian Varner is expected to enter the transfer portal, a source tells On3.

A former Temple transfer, he earned AAC-first team honors in 2022. In his one year at Wisconsin, he played in 11 games with five total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.

As a sophomore at Temple in 2022, he was a team captain and finished the season tied for 16th in the nation with .75 sacks per game. His 7.5 total sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss were second most on the team.

In his one year with the Badgers, the 6-foot-3, 275-pound pass rusher didn’t participate in spring drills this past year. He spent much of this past season getting back to full strength.
