Indiana WR Donaven McCulley withdraws from NCAA Transfer Portal
Indiana wide receiver Donaven McCulley has withdrawn from the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. It’s a big boost for the Hoosiers, who will get one of their top weapons back under new coach Curt Cignetti.
McCulley announced his decision to return to Indiana Friday afternoon after more than two weeks in the portal. He received an offer from Michigan and took a visit to Kentucky while on the open market. However, he now is ready to head back to Indiana to serve as a key part of the Hoosiers’ new-look offense.
IU recently got a commitment from former Ohio quarterback Kurtis Rourke as Cignetti tries to overhaul the roster after leaving James Madison. He’s one of two portal commitments for the Hoosiers as former Wake Forest running back Justice Ellison committed earlier this week.
Now, they have their top receiver back. Donaven McCulley led Indiana with 644 receiving yards and six touchdowns in what turned out to be Tom Allen’s final year at the helm. It was by far his biggest year with the Hoosiers after he totaled just 169 yards and a touchdown in 2022.
After entering the portal, McCulley came in as the No. 6-ranked wide receiver in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.
