“I want to thank God for the opportunity to play at FAU and the incredible people I’ve met along the way,” Boyd said in a statement. “The past three seasons have been amazing and have taught me a lot. To the coaching staff, I want to thank you guys for the support and all of the memories. To my teammates, we will have a brotherhood for life. To the fans, you helped us create lifelong memories that I will cherish forever. Lastly to my family, I want to thank you guys for everything! I love you guys.

“What that being said I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining and with consideration of returning to FAU.”

FAU transfer portal activity continues amid Dusty May leaving

With Dusty May leaving the program, there is a ton of talent on its way out for FAU. May was recently hired by the Michigan Wolverines and hopes to bring them back to competing in March after a lul under Juwan Howard. He certainly has the experience, making the Final Four during the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Boyd played a key role in that run, starting in 37 of the 39 games FAU played that season. His scoring numbers were a tick lower compared to this last year, averaging 8.9 points. However, Boyd did put up better rebounding (4.3) and assists (2.4) averages.

Everyone from FAU who does enter the portal will instantly be linked with Michigan. Nobody knows those players better than May after spending six seasons with the Owls. If May wants to reunite with some of his guys — such as Boyd — the established relationship will certainly help.
