Former Alabama baseball star Owen Diodati transfers to Oregon Ducks
Former Alabama Crimson Tide baseball star Owen Diodati exited the transfer portal on Saturday evening, officially announcing that he was joining the Oregon Ducks on his Twitter page. Check out the announcement from Diodati below.
“My time at the University of Alabama has been unforgettable,” he wrote. “With that being said, I am beyond excited for the next chapter. Proud to announce my commitment to play baseball & further my education at the University of Oregon! Go ducks!”
A few weeks ago, Diodati was recently named an Academic All-American, after he boasted a 4.0 GPA. He was the only one of 14 members on the Tide’s baseball team to hold a perfect 4.0 GPA. The selection to the Academic All-American list was the first for the Crimson Tide since 2007.
This season, Diodati batted .242, while hitting eight home runs and 26 RBIs for the Crimson Tide. He also drew 25 walks and was hit by four pitches this year. The native of Ontario, Canada ranked third on the team this year in home runs and walks. On opening day for the 2022 season, Diodati delivered the goods when his team needed them the most, blasting a two-run walk-off home run to lift the Crimson Tide to a 5-4 victory over Xavier on Feb. 18.
