Former Baylor TE Drake Dabney commits to TCU
Former Baylor tight end Drake Dabney isn’t going far, announcing on Saturday that he’s committed to TCU as a transfer. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Dabney has been a productive player for the Bears, especially later in his career. After catching 16 passes during his first 20 games across two seasons, he’s caught 49 passes across 20 games in his previous two seasons, including 2023. He’s got 873 receiving yards, with 555 coming this season. He also added five receiving touchdowns this year, a career high.
That sort of consistent, steady production should give Dabeny a route to playing time and targets for the Horned Frogs. He’s a bit on the lighter side for a tight end, but has the frame to be an effective blocker, still.
Dabney played high school football at Cy Ranch (Texas) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 593 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
