Former Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec commits to Pittsburgh
Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec has committed to the Pitt Panthers, sources told ESPN and Pete Thamel. The news comes shortly after Thamel also revealed that Pitt starting quarterback Kedon Slovis plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Jurkovec shared his intention to leave BC on Friday.
“I’m thankful to Coach Narduzzi and Coach Cignetti and the University of Pittsburgh for allowing me the opportunity to come home and compete,” Jurkovec told ESPN.
Jurkovec committed to Notre Dame out of high school and spent two years with the Fighting Irish as a backup quarterback.
He transferred to Boston College in 2020 and earned the starting job right away, putting up the best numbers from an Eagles quarterback since Matt Ryan. But he has dealt with injuries the past two seasons. In eight games played this season, Jurkovec totaled 1,711 passing yards with a 59.5% completion rate and an 11-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Jurkovec played high school football at Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 90 overall recruit and No. 10 in the 2018 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Kedon Slovis hits the transfer portal
Slovis was the starter for the Panthers in 2022 and helped them to a 7-4 record. That comes after he spent three seasons at USC. In his one year at Pitt, he threw for 2,397 yards, 10 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. It was a bit of a drop-off after he threw for an average of 2,525 yards and 19 touchdowns during his time in Los Angeles. Still, plenty of expectations were on his shoulders to perform considering he had to replace Kenny Pickett after his Heisman-contender season a year ago.
Slovis played high school football at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, Arizona where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 581 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
