Former Duquesne CB Ayden Garnes commits to West Virginia

Duquesne cornerback Ayden Garnes has committed to West Virginia, On3 has learned. Garnes will have multiple years of eligibility remaining.

Garnes played in 22 games across the last two seasons at Duquesne, making a significant impact as a cover corner both years. As a true freshman in 2022, he played in 10 games and recorded a pair of interceptions, a forced fumble, fumble recovery and blocked a kick on top of 33 tackles.

He upped his production in 2023, going again for two interceptions but defending 13 passes — he had just four as a freshman — plus a fumble recovery and five tackles for loss to go with 51 total while playing in 12 games. Since getting on the field after redshirting, he’s been a highly productive defender.

Garnes played high school football at Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic (Pa.) High School, where he was an unrated recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
