Former Florida State defensive lineman Malcolm Ray commits to Rutgers
Former Florida State defensive lineman Malcolm Ray has committed to Rutgers out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, he announced on social media on Saturday. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Ray redshirted in 2019 before playing in six games during the 2020 Covid year that didn’t count towards his eligibility. Over the next three years, he was a rotational defender for the Seminoles up front, playing in 36 games and recording 55 tackles, including 8.5 for loss and three sacks. He made a number of starts during that three-year stint. He also batted a pair of passes and recovered a fumble during those three seasons.
With a wealth of experience, Ray should immediately slot in as a starter or significant piece on the defensive line for the Scarlet Knights.
Ray played high school football at Miami Carol City (Fla.) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1129 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
